John Mafnas, GPSI Guam

 In June of 2017, John joined GPSI Guam as the Small Arms Range (SAR) Coordinator in support of Naval Security Forces, Naval Base Guam. As the coordinator, he was responsible for scheduling all live-fire small arms training requests from commands on island and visiting ships from off-island. He ensured all maintenance and service requests were accurate and necessary for the five firing ranges located on main base, Naval Base Guam (NBG) and Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS), Guam.

A year later, in June 2018, John was selected to be our Contracts Manager. In this capacity, John is responsible for oversight, and other day-to-day business acumen necessary to successfully manage the multiple contracts awarded to GPSI Guam. The current contracts include a multi-position Naval Facilities Marianas Labor Contract; the largest Navy Pest Control Services Contract on island, the Navy’s Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) Contract, and a Personnel Systems Management Contract, 36th Force Support Squadron, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. As the Program Manager, he is responsible for reviewing all contracts, contract deliverables, timelines, and personnel management requirements. Provides analysis of contract supplies and works closely with our financial manager to validate fiscal year funding. John also fills in as the Operations Manager, during his absence.

Additionally, John has eleven years’ experience as a Department of Defense (DoD) Contractor, supporting multiple mission sets and organizations. In previous positions held, his technical and analytical approach exceeded customer satisfaction as United States Indo-Pacific Command’s Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) Specialist, Joint Training System Specialist (JTS), and as Executive Officer, Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS), Defense Threat Reduction Agency before joining Galaide Professional Services Incorporated. John retired from the United States Air Force, with 22 years of service. He considers himself a highly motivated self-starter, analytical by nature, and a strong communicator, all traits necessary to cultivate a well-rounded relationship within our staff and our customers. John is a trusted asset and provides his recommendations and feedback to the Corporate Managers when requested; his decision making, and judgment is highly encouraged and trusted by the owners and our customers.

After retiring from the Air Force, John earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Business Administration with the University of Phoenix, Albuquerque New Mexico Campus. John’s short-term goal is to earn a Project Management Institute (PMI) certification. John is married to Trisia Marie Paulino-Mafnas, of Inarajan Guam and has four children.
