On July 10, 2017, GPSI Guam was certified as a Participant in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development Program. The 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses that offers a broad scope of assistance to firms that are owned and controlled at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Participation in the program is divided into two phases over nine years: a four-year developmental stage and a five-year transition stage. Benefits of the Program include receiving sole-source contracts up to a ceiling of $4 million for goods and services and $6.5 million for manufacturing. Being award an 8(a) certification also opens doors to form joint ventures and teams to bid on contracts. This enhances the ability of GPSI Guam to prime larger contracts.
